Donau Walzer

The performance Danube Waltz was created in the course of a two-week residency in a Romanian Modernist apartment building by Marcel Iancu in Bucharest. The work comments on the multitude of dilapidated buildings from various eras in the city, which are threatened by decay. The contrasting, costly renovation of the huge fountain on Piața Unirii, a symbol from the communist era, serves as a reference for the representative fountains performed on the pavement in front of Marcel Iancu‘s architecture. The DIY fountains adapt to the size of the street, the neighbourhood and the people whose town seems less worthy of renovation than the symbol of an era.
